Routine

"Daily Grind" Watercolor and Ink
Ah, coffee, my favorite morning routine. I do love my espresso machine. This is one of the little hand-painted espresso cups that Belle gave me as a present a couple years ago that I adore, they are hanging under the cabinets over the aforementioned espresso machine.
Art-wise this is yet another attempt at watercolors (see "Seed") and once again I had some issues. Mostly, when I left the room, the 'D' and the 'G' decided to wander up toward the espresso...not that I can blame them. I'm also not sure how much I like the cross hatching. But I did have fun with the colors! Just trying to add to my repertoire!

This is wonderful! This would be the PERFECT sign for a corner coffee shop, don't you think?? I really love the colors, and I think the cross-hatch worked out pretty well. That's great that you're keeping on with the watercolors. I'm still too nervous to try.

I love the colors for this piece! So vibrant and full of life! I used to be intimidated by watercolors for exactly the same issues you are encountering. I recently have gone back to try it, and I can't explain it, but it seems to like me better now. I'm still not a big watercolor user. My tip: If the paint is too wet and I'm afraid it's going to run, I usually dry it a bit by removing the excess water with a paper towel ... not really pressing hard on the paper, or it leaves a mark. Not sure if that helps, but so far it's worked for me.

a lovely vibrant colourful image, I like the way the paint has spread outside of the lettering. ( I thought it was intentional! :) )

Great colors. The wandering colors look intentional, so don't tell anyone otherwise. It's a very pleasing, happy illustration.

Hey don't be so hard on yourself :)
Those kinds of accidents are the beauty of using watercolor, the final result is much more interesting when colors blend or spread freely over the paper. Let them be, it looks cool!

This is exactly the type of artwork you should give to your aunt.
